The Saudi General, Major General Ali Al-Rehili, leader of the operation to liberate the hijacked Russian plane, which took place in Medina some 20 years ago, died last Wednesday evening.

A relative of the late Major General Ali al-Rahili revealed that his death was due to kidney failure, and he was buried in Medina.

Ali Al-Rehili led the release of the Russian plane, whose captains were forced to land at Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina .

The hijackers had decided to leave the airport after landing there, before they were surprised by a Saudi security squad led by Ali al-Rehili, who raided the civilian plane and controlled the hijackers.
