The Saudi Ministry of Interior said through its official account on the social networking sites "Twitter" that there is no list of specific banned names , but rather there are criteria that must be taken into account when choosing the names of children .

The Civil Status Authority said that the criteria for names, in order to be regular, must be registered without nicknames, and names that do not form part of the name, such as: the sheriff, the master, the haji, etc. Additional expressions are not allowed in the name field, such as: known as .... such.


She indicated that it is not permissible to register compound names such as: Moon of Time. It is also prohibited to register names that violate Islamic law , such as: Abd al-Rasool, Abdullah, etc.
